HOT STONE MASSAGE

The history of hot stone massage can be traced back thousands of years and may have originated from the ancient healing tradition of Ayurveda as far back as 5000 years ago in India.  The Japanese also used stones to warm their abdomens to improve digestion about 4000 years ago.  The Ancient Chinese used heated stones more than 2000 years ago to improve the function of internal organs.  Since then they have been used over the years by Native Americans, during rituals, and Hawaiians, for healing.

Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism.  Each 1 hour hot stone massage therapy session will promote a deeper muscle relaxation through the use of smooth, water-heated stones.

The heat of the stones gently penetrates the skin and muscles, helping the client to relax and de-stress.  The stones are made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat.
